i have a bit of a dilemma: i was sanding some jeans for someone(creating frayed areas), and the sanding drum snagged the jeans and wrapped around the rotary tip and stopped it from spinning while the motor was going at second speed at 35,000 rpm. i didn’t even know it happened, cause it happened so fast! i was shocked for a full second, and flipped it over to turn it off. it was running like that for about 3 seconds. maybe 4 the most? now the switch that picks the speeds is kind of screwed up, and the second speed kind of momentarily phases out and then gets going. it does that randomly. what happened? did i damage the motor? i couldn’t smell any kind of burning scent from the motor being… well whatever happened. anybody have any experience with this?
The spinning of the motor is also how the motor cools itself. A motor that is stopped like yours is no different than a toaster — the wires heat up and can burn up. You probably wrecked it.
Since you’re a novice with hand tools, you know that a Dremel is not to be used for dentistry don’t you?
