which would be best for a car engine: an axial flow compressor, a rotary screw compressor, or a centrifugal?
the the compressor would obviously be used to force air into the engine (supercharger/turbocharger) however the bulk of the concern would be which of these three compressor types are the most efficient at,
a.)maximizing the rate of compression,
b.)with the highest volume of air compressed and,
c.)having the least amount of power drained from the engine
*i have read about the theoretical aspects of all three compressors:

The turbo charger which uses a centrifugal compressor, is by far the most efficient, as it uses no power from the engine, utilizing waste exhaust energy to operate it.
