My air conditioner compressor operates but the air that comes through the ducts isn’t cold?

I use 3-month air filters but change them in 2-3 months. Maybe it’s the freon, if so, how frequently should the freon be charged?

First, always change your filter every 30 days i cant tell you how many countless times i get a call because the house is not cooling or the system runs constantly due to home owners not changing their air filter all it does is make the system work harder and kill your electric. You should know there is not no such thing as a 90 or 120 day filter it should be changed every 30 days for proper system operation.
As for the compressor part sounds like you may have a leak and all your freon has escaped, also make sure your outdoor fan motor is working when the compressor is on, or it could be a bad compressor.
